Interview Tips

  • Always ensure you have all of the details for the interview written down correctly – these being the company name, address, person's full name that you are meeting with, their correct title and date/time.
  • Always research the company before you go on interview. Look up their website; find out the key points about the company and their values. Clients like to see that you know about them and you have a reason for being at the interview.
  • Dress in your best business suit, regardless of what role you are being interviewed for. Ensure your hair is neat & tidy, you're not wearing too much jewelry nor have anything else going on that will distract the interviewer. First impressions really do count!
  • Ensure you know how to get to the client. Make sure you have got enough time to get their allowing for traffic and still arriving around ten minutes early.
  • Prepare, prepare, prepare! Think about the interview you are about to go on. What questions they will ask you – your responses. Think of different situations you have been in applicable to the role you are being interviewed for and keep them in mind when different questions arise. When you are being interviewed don't be afraid to sit back and think about your answer – small silences are not a bad thing, especially when you respond with a well thought out, confident response.
  • Be confident when you first meet the interviewer, stand tall, put out your hand first and give a confident shake. This will relax you for the rest of the process and also impress the interviewer.
  • Eye contact! People like to be looked at when they are communicating so always maintain eye contact with your interviewer.
  • Always have questions to ask at the end of an interview – 2 or 3 will suffice but it shows an interest in the process and the company.
  • Always end an interview on a positive note! Thank the interviewer for their time, if you are interested in their role – let them know! Let them know you look forward to hearing from them.
